A REPORT ON THE ROTARY CLUB DEBATE HELD ON 11TH NOVEMBER, 2023.

*A Report On the Rotary Club Debate Held on 11th November, 2023.*

Our students participated in the Rotary Club Debate, 2023 edition. It was held at St John of God College, Awka.

The Rotary Club Debate Championship is annual program where six schools across the state are selected to debate on various topics. The aim is to promote the culture of dialogue and intellectualism among students.

For this year's edition, the six selected schools were from Oba, Agulu, Awka and Ogidi. But at the end only four of these schools made it to today's event.

The first round was between AHTC, Ogidi and Girls Secondary School, Amenyi on the motion: "This House Believes That Debate Should Not Be Included In School's Extracurricular Activities." After the battle of words, AHTC Ogidi won in a unanimous decision of 3 wins to 0 with Obi Stanley winning the best speaker.

After other schools presented and the finalists selected, our school met the students of St John of God College, Awka. The motion was an impromptu one: "The Removal of Fuel Subsidy in Nigeria." Our students once again proved themselves by beating their opponents 3 to 0 and Obi Stanley was acclaimed the best speaker for the tournament.

We thank the organisers of Rotary Club for this opportunity. We as well thank and congratulate the student-debaters for performing well in their third debating outing. We encourage them to do more.
